How the ARMA Textbook Will Improve Your Classroom

“I’ve been looking for this for years! I’m so glad I found the ARMA Textbook for my class!”

ARMA has many unique features that will make your teaching experience more streamlined, customizable, and flexible. One of the many great ARMA resources is the A-R Music History Textbook!

The Textbook can be used as a comprehensive music history book, or it can be used as a springboard for your completely personalized course. Keep reading to learn more about how you can utilize this resource in your classroom!

Where Can I Find the ARMA Textbook?

Once you log into your free instructor account, you can simply click on the Textbook button located on the ARMA homepage. This will take you to the Textbook landing page, where you can choose to search by style or section.

WHat can I find in the ARMA Textbook?

The foundational articles for the A-R Online Music Anthology cover the main style periods of Western Art Music, with each period containing articles from each of the five sections:

  • Surveys/Overview
  • Genres & Forms
  • Music Theory
  • Major Composers
  • Significant Works

New articles are added regularly, and updates are made to existing articles to keep links and sources accessible!

How can I add a Textbook article to my course?

Textbook articles can be added just like any other ARMA content! When you are editing a course, you can search the term “article” if you would like to browse the Textbook specifically.

If you have any questions about how to use ARMA, we have several resources to help:
