Let ARMA Match Your Teaching Style!

Developed as a digital resource, ARMA’s features make it easy to build courses that match your teaching style.  Most importantly ARMA lets you bypass the limitations of print because you can access the entire site to customize the content and its order to meet  your needs.  You can make a single syllabus or create multiple modules for your courses: It is your choice, since you know best what works with your students. You can also update the courses at any point, and your students will see the results immediately.

ARMA Is Easy to Use

Your instructor login makes it easy to use ARMA. If you are waiting to use ARMA, you might try it out with a few students. It’s never an all-or-nothing scenario with ARMA, since your courses are private until you invite students to them.

Making Courses

When you use your instructor login, you will find several already listed, and they are default courses you can modify for your students. It’s also easy to make a new course, and you might try it out with a few students. If you want to use ARMA with several students, you can invite them to your test course and do not want to have students pay, you could invite a few students as TAs so that they can have access to your course while you are working on it. (The TA status will let your students view your courses and not edit it.)

But I Already Have My Course Syllabi!

If you already have course syllabi, it’s easy to create them anew in ARMA by adding the music scores, articles, and commentaries you need for your courses in ARMA.  Your free instructor login takes you to your courses, where the link to add a new course takes you to the process step by step.

We can also help you to set up courses, if you like. Yet the ease of use is something instructors mention to us. We’ve worked with instructors who had to cover a course just days before the first class meeting, and they were ready in a relatively short time. One instructor new to ARMA made all the courses for the next academic year during an afternoon, and then invited their students to ARMA. That instructor made the most of ARMA’s features to create the courses and review the content in advance.  more serious matter concerns the constraint of working in a new environment and potentially rebuilding courses that are currently set up.

I Want to Switch from a Single Syllabus to Multiple Modules

If you already have a course in ARMA and want to add modules, ARMA’s features let you make the modules (and it saves them automatically) without losing your original course.  You can work between your existing course and the new module online. If you prefer to print your longer list of contents, use the drop-down to select “All” entries, so that you print a single continuous listing. In fact, you can make as many modules as you like. Remember that you are the only one who sees the courses until you decide to share them with your students when you invite them.

Preview Your Content

You can preview your content by requesting a student login, and then you can let your students know exactly what they can expect when they open the course. You can also use that login as you prepare your courses, so that you can make adjustments before your students see the courses. Contact us when you need a student login, and we will provide it!

Use ARMA for Assignments

You can also use ARMA for assignments. With its robust content, ARMA is the natural choice for assigning projects that involved music not discussed in class.  Your students can use the “search” bar to explore ARMA’s contents for your assignments at no additional charge, and it’s easy to use. Just have them enter criteria you set, for example a composer’s name, a style, a genre, or any combination of information for your assigments.  In fact, you might encourage your students to make the most of their subscriptions by using to to find related scores, commentaries, and articles. In this sense ARMA goes beyond the limits of a bound book to become a resource that your students value for music history and theory.

Dare to Make What You Want with ARMA!

ARMA lets you have the options that are not possible with a bound book, and this gives you the freedom to make ARMA work for you and your students! Your instructor login is key to building the courses that you always imagined, and you can share that with your students when you adopt ARMA.
